The Friends of Historic Houses

The Friends of Historic Houses promote community support and interest in the Moses Myers House and Norfolk History Museum at the Willoughby-Baylor House. By raising funds for special projects, they encourage collections conservation, research, and building preservation.

FHH members receive copies of the Historic Houses quarterly newsletter, The Packet, invitations to special events, and free admission to programs such as the Norfolk History Series.

Membership is open to all current Members of the Chrysler Museum of Art. Annual dues are $50 per household.

For more information, you can email supportgroups@chrysler.org, call (757) 333-6298, or sign up online.

Docent Program

Docents are art ambassadors who bring our collection alive for school and adult tour groups. Docent training is like receiving an art history degree using real works of art and historic objects as textbooks. Training, which begins again in October 2011, includes weekly classes, gallery sessions, and touring techniques. Please contact Ruth Sanchez, Docent Coordinator, at (757) 333-6269.

Volunteers

The Historic Houses is always interested in volunteers. No need for museum expertise or lots of free time to commit—just a willingness to help is a start. Tell us your ideas at museum@chrysler.org.
