About Our Book Club

At The Moses Myers House

Readers, join us every other month to enjoy light refreshments and discuss great books with Dickson Librarian Jessica Ritchie. Books are selected in connection with the museum’s exhibitions, historic house tours and Glass Studio programs. Read the book and enjoy the events!

The Book Club meets bimonthly on selected Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:00 pm. While the museum is under renovation, we will be meeting in the dining room of the Moses Myers House.

Contact Jessica Ritchie for details. These events are free and open to the public.

The Moses Myers House is located at 323 E. Freemason St. That's at the corner of Bank and E. Freemason streets near the north parking deck of the MacArthur Center Mall.

Tales and Poems
by Edgar Allan Poe

While there are several stories and poems to enjoy, we’ll focus our discussion on The Tell-Tale Heart, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Cask of Amontillado, The Pit & the Pendulum, The Black Cat, Annabel Lee, Lenore and The Raven.

Before the discussion: Visit the Moses Myers House to see what life and architecture were like during Poe’s lifetime. Beware of mysterious sounds coming from the floorboards and walls.
