Copper (II) Oxide
Copper oxides (CuO or Cu2O) in glass can produce colors ranging from light blue to turquoise and even red. Today, artists can take advantage of pre-made color in the form of powder, color rods, and crushed glass, known as frit. ??
Klaus Moje’s bowl showcases the wide variety of blues, greens, yellows, and reds that are used by glass artists today. Individual glass strips were arranged by the artist, then fused together in a state-of-the-art kiln that heats to about 840°C, just below the point when glass softens to a molten form.
