Feb 24, 2013
Sunday, February 24
We offer a free glass art demo every day at noon.
On the calendar today for classes or special events:
• Two-Day Workshop: Glass: An Amorphous Solid
Today from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., it's Day Two of our most popular skill-building workshop. By making a series of clear solid and hollow forms—paperweights, spheres, and cylinders—you will explore the qualities of hot glass and get more familiar with glassblowing techniques. You can check the availability for this or future sessions here. ($200 Members, $250 all others).
• Two-Day Workshop: Glass: Snowglobe
Today is the second day of a two-day workshop where you can learn to blow spheres and bell jars out of molten glass to use as the cover for your own miniature world. Create beautiful, whimsical, or out-of-the-ordinary scenes, or tell a story featuring tiny objects and figures. Your personal vision comes to life, encased beneath your own hand-blown top! From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sign up here. ($175 Members, $225 all others).
• Two-Hour Class: Introduction to Flameworking
From 2-4 p.m. today, come get a taste of an addicting form of glass art—the molding of glass with a torch. In introductory classes you make beads as a way to learn the craft. You can then advance your skills by taking atwo-night course that moves you from beads to figures (offered March 6 and 13). If you do well at that, you can then consider a two-day workshop called Blowing on the Torch that will be offered March 16-17. To sign up for this first step, click here. ($40 Members, $60 all others).
