Friends of Historic Houses Lecture

Feb 11, 2018
2:00 PM

Join New York-based curator Donald Albrecht as he examines Manitoga, a National Historic Landmark and the estate of industrial designer Russel Wright. Learn about the Garrison, New York house, Wright's career that started in the 1920s, and how Wright used his residences to determine how twentieth-century Americans should live. Albrecht will also address how the current staff at Manitoga is trying to keep the house alive with artist residences and performances. Albrecht has curated exhibitions that range from overviews of cultural trends to profiles of design firms and artists. A Fellow of the American Academy in Rome, he lectures frequently about architecture and design, develops award-winning catalogs, and contributes essays to publications about architecture and design.

Free reception prior to the talk from noon to 1 p.m. in the Kaufman Theater Lobby.
