Sep 29, 2018
1:00 PM

Bailes~do~Monde brings dance to the Chrysler again with a Puerto Rican dance in their Caribbean Series Collection in recognition of the one year anniversary of Hurricane Maria and Hispanic Heritage Month. The program will begin with an acapella rendition of Puerto Rico’s national anthem, La Borinqueña, performed by local Puerto Rican opera singer, Israel Urban, followed by a video introduction to the Puerto Rican traditional dance called Bomba. Then participants will journey into Puerto Rico’s rich African, native Taino, and Spanish history through a call and response dance and drum presentation. The program will conclude with a workshop for dancers of all skill levels. This family-friendly event is free to the public.
