In this companion to our exhibition Shooting Lincoln: Photography and the 16th President photographer, artist, and Old Dominion University professor Greta Pratt offers a penetrating mix of history and myth with Nineteen Lincolns.

This portrait series of members of The Association of Lincoln Presenters goes far beyond reenactor costumes and stovepipe hats. The traits projected in these unique personas reflect traits associated with the history of a wartime president. Famous for determination and courage, Lincoln was also capable of great humor and great sadness, and it is the many faces of Lincoln that are explored in this important work.

Nineteen Lincolns will be on view Feb. 10 / July 5, and admission is free. For more information, click here.
