The Pyrographs of Etsuko Ichikawa
Pyrographs: Drawing With Glass
Glass: Etsuko Ichikawa
This glass art as performance art event featured a Tokyo-born, Seattle-based artist who describes her work on her website as "a continuing investigation of what lies between the ephemeral and the eternal.
For her pyrographs, Ichikawa drips molten glass over damp paper and lets the flame etch the image. As explained in the video above, she came about this combination of calligraphy and glass art by accident, but it's a happy accident indeed. Her work has been exhibited world wide, and acclaim for her work, as measured in positive reviews and museum accessions, has grown steadily.
