chrysler hosts new course for odu students

Behind the walls of the Museum's galleries are the offices and work spaces of the staff who make the Chrysler experience possible, and students from Old Dominion University are learning first-hand about the variety and depth of talents behind the Chrysler's operations, exhibitions, and programs. As a part of the Museum's partnership with ODU which made free admission for college students possible in 2005, the Chrysler's Director of Education, Scott Howe, and ODU’s Chair of the Art History Program, Dr. Elizabeth Lipsmeyer, have begun co-teaching a course this semester titled, Introduction to the Museum.

Modeled on the organization of the Chrysler itself, the course introduces students to key staff members at the Chrysler, from conservation to finance to exhibition design. The goal is to present students with a better understanding of museum management as well as to offer them insight into the diverse career opportunities available within Museums. Perhaps the next generation of museum educators, exhibition designers, or curators will choose their career paths this fall at the Chrysler.
