Building on the network of the Chrysler's support groups, the Museum is pleased to announce the addition of the Friends of African-American Art. The group's principal mission is to build significant relationships between the Museum and the African-American community in Hampton Roads. Through educational programs and social events, the group hopes to more fully involve the community in all functions of the Museum, including the enhancement of the Permanent Collection.
This May, the Museum held an elegant reception for a small group of business and community leaders and politicians to officially launch the group. At that time, the Chrysler demonstrated its commitment to developing ties with the community by unveiling its latest acquisition-a stunning sculpture by the artist Elizabeth Catlett. On your next visit to the Museum, stop by to see this wonderful addition.
