The Chrysler Museum of Art and Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay
are proud to announce a summer evening program, Evening with the Arts
at Westminster-Canterbury. Evening with the Arts is an open community
group that meets monthly at 7 p.m. for a slide presentation, discussion,
and light refreshments. The programs are free and open to the public.
No reservations are necessary for Westminster-Canterbury residents, and
limited seating is available for the general public. Please call 333-6268
for reservations.
The Museum’s Director of Education and Public Programs, John S.
Welch, will present both of the evening programs. In July, his topic is
19th-Century American Landscape Painting, in which he will discuss how
landscapists of the 19th century reflected their beliefs and hopes for
a new nation through their paintings. In August, Mr. Welch will give an
overview of The Bold 1980s: A Collector’s Vision, an exhibition
of socially- and politically-motivated art of the 1980s, currently on
view at the Museum.
Evening with the Arts at Westminster Canterbury is co-sponsored by the
Museum’s Education Department and Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake
Bay. Westminster-Canterbury is located at 3100 Shore Drive in Virginia
Beach. For additional information or reservations for the general public,
please call the Museum’s Manager of Adult and Community Programs,
Kristi McMillan, at (757) 333-6268 or e-mail kmcmillan@chrysler.org.
