Learning about China through Art
This site explores the history and culture of China through works of art in the Chrysler's Permanent Collection.
Art in Context
An in-depth study of Adolphe William Bouguereau's masterpiece, Orestes Pursued by the Furies (1862), and a prototype for future online features.
On the first Wednesday of each month, join us for our popular Art of Jazz series where we feature the best performers from across Hampton Roads. Sit in Huber Court and enjoy the band, which starts at 6:15 p.m., or listen from a distance as you peruse our galleries, open until 9 p.m. Our headliners for each month are listed on the main calendar.
The Fine Art of Wine, an informal tasting sponsored by Farm Fresh, complements the jazz. Museum Members receive a $1 discount on each glass of wine and half-off on all wine tasting. Other refreshments also are available for purchase.
Art Riffs, short explorations of selected works of art, fill the quiet time when the band takes its first break. Guests meet at the Fine Staircase in Huber Court at approximately 7:15 p.m.
With a collection of 80,000 volumes, the Jean Outland Chrysler Library is one of the most important art libraries in the South.
