"Darkness and Light: Weegee's Night of Mystery"
Friday, August 17 6:00-10:00 p.m. R.S.V.P. at 757-333-6283. $10 admission, $5 Museum Members.
Bring the family or a date and tour the back streets of New York with Weegee and the shady characters who’ll come to life at our interactive, “bring the family” event.

"Weegee Moments"
In Huber Court.
Expose your wild side with Polaroids and learn how Weegee’s photos captured the beauty and tragedy of New York City. We'll provide costumes and a 40’s nightlife atmosphere. You and your friends provide the fun and willingness to get caught on film.

"Murder Mystery Game"
In Huber Court at 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
Were they dead before or after they hit the water? Who lurks behind the hats in the paddy wagon? Answer these questions and more as you sleuth for telltale clues in an evening of clever discussion, quick wit, and observation of Weegee’s work.

"The Real Weegee"
Feature Film showing at 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. in the museum theatre.
Weegee’s photographs captured gang murders, fires, and the beautiful people. Witness the story of New York City’s most famous freelance photographer.

FREE Weegee Double-Feature Film Series
Wednesday evenings in August 6:00-9:30 p.m. in the Museum Theatre.

"The Naked City"
Starring Barry Fitzgerald. Directed by Jules Dassin, this 1948 Academy Award-winning film noir classic, inspired by Weegee’s photographs, tells the tale of NYCPD’s murder investigation of model Jean Dexter. Weegee was called in as a consultant for his expertise in the portrayal of the raw impressions of city life. 6:00 p.m.

"The Public Eye"
Starring Joe Pesci and Barbara Hershey. Weegee’s life is mirrored in the storyof Leon “Bernzy” Bernstein, New York’s best news photographer. At home with both cops and crooks, Leon works the streets taking photos coveted by lesser photographers. He also, despite his lack of success with women, encounters club owner Kay Levitz. 7:45 p.m.

Evening Lecture - "Weegee's Story"
October 5, 2001 • 7:00 p.m. in the Museum Theatre.
Dr. Margit Zuckriegl, curator at the Rupertinum Museum for Modern Art in Salzburg, Austria, and organizer of Weegee’s Story, will present a lecture on some of the unique aspects of works in this exhibition which are not as well known as many of the photographer’s works from American collections.
Free to all Museum Members.
